Hundreds Gather to Witness Summer Servants, Local Missions in Syracuse

An atmosphere of excitement, welcome and anticipation filled the gym during the Summer Servants Community Dinners July 16 and 23. The evenings were scenes of teens hugging their parents and siblings, of homeless men joining tables for dinner, of local pastors and ministers conversing about transformative experiences.

For Zachary Adler, a 17-year-old from Cazenovia who is a member of the high school ministry program Young Life, participating in the Summer Servants one-week overnight retreat was an eye-opening experience. “It changed my perspective,” he said in a testimony at a community dinner on July 11 at DeWitt Community Church. “I did a ‘180’ on the people in Syracuse.”

Teens Volunteer to Help Syracuse Non-Profits, Residents Through Summer Church Program
